"From the Heart of a Mother" is composed of short stories and poems about my life with my three sons. It is about the first time I held them at the hospital, their first day of school, puberty, junior high, graduation and the empty nest syndrome. There is also a chapter about my diagnosis with Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.), and how it affected our family. About two years after my diagnosis with M.S., I went through a divorce. Sometimes couples pull together through a crisis, while others drift apart. Unfortunately, for the boys, we drifted apart. The next issue I faced was finding a job. Should I tell the employer? If I mentioned M.S. in an interview, I was never called. I had been a stay-home mom for 11 years. Not only did I have no work experience, but I also had a very serious illness. I always felt like I had to work twice as hard as everyone else, to make up for my illness. When I would miss work, I wasn't out for just a day or two, sometimes it was weeks at a time. Plus, the medical insurance for someone with M.S. was very expensive. Somehow, we all made it though and I almost always had some kind of a job, until a few years ago, when I had to go on disability. Luckily, my boys are raised now and I am remarried to a wonderful man. I am also fortunate, that they have interferon shots now, for the progression of M.S. I have been giving them to myself three times a week, for the past few years and it has stopped the progression of M.S. and it has helped my vision to stay stable. When I was diagnosed in 1989, they didn't have any medications like this. I thank God every day for my family, for my eyesight and for my good days. I appreciate my eyes, because there are times that I can't see. I appreciate my legs, because there are times when I can't walk I also appreciate technology. Some people criticize technology, but it has helped me stay healthier and given others with M.S., hope for better days. Please check out my website and find out how to buy my book at a discounted price. I feel that any woman will be able to relate to the heartwarming moments we experience as mothers. To add something special, the last chapter has three short children's stories. Each one of them has a special lesson about life and they are very entertaining. Thank you and God bless you!
